Specified authority likely to manage TTD affairs

The State government is likely to delay constitution of the new board of trustees for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and may set up a ‘specified authority' to manage the temple affairs.

The tenure of the present TTD board headed by D.K.Adikesavulu will end on August 24 this year.

It is learnt that the State government is seriously looking into the reports of alleged irregularities in the TTD and the CB-CID probe into them.

Besides the ‘padayatras' taken up TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Praja Rajyam chief K. Chiranjeevi respectively to highlight the various scams in the TTD had not only projected the government in a bad light but had also badly tarnished the TTD's reputation.

Meanwhile, several high profile Congress leaders are lobbying in New Delhi for the TTD Chairman's post.

Prominent among those whose names are doing rounds include -- Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao, T.G. Venkatesh, Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and former Chairman T. Subbarami Reddy. Sources say present incumbent D.K. Adikesavulu is also trying his best for an extension.
