VISAKHAPATNAM: If you have a flair for writing and a zeal for deciphering technical details, you can try your hand at a career as a technical writer. The Bangalore-based technical writing training company The Writers Block (TWB) has launched its centre to offer the TWB online course in technical writing at Knowledge Centre @ The FORUM at Dwarkanagar. The first batch of the three-month online course on technical writing will commence from December 1. “This course is the first of its kind in the city. Though technical writers are much in demand, there is a dearth of trained professionals in this field,” Anuradha Reji of The FORUM told The Hindu.Any graduate with good communication skills can enrol for the programme. Interested candidates will also have to clear an online written entrance test on English and Computers before taking up the course. The online programme is divided into six units.

Assignments have to be uploaded at the end of each module based on which an assessment will be done by the trainers in Bangalore. Online communication facility with the teaching faculty and fellow students is made available through chat rooms and message forums wherein the candidates can clarify their doubts and also get valuable feedback.

“Technical writing involves understanding the technical jargon and expressing it precisely, concisely, clearly and convincingly using simple English. The online course will deal with the methodology, techniques and presentation skills in this field. It’s a user-friendly and interactive module,” said Anuradha.

Placement assistance will be provided by TWB. TWB also has a tie-up with HP and SAP for internship and placement programmes.
