Silver ornaments worth Rs. 5 lakh stolen from temple

Silver ornaments worth Rs. 5 lakh were reportedly stolen from Srirangadhamam temple on the banks of river Godavari on Tuesday night.

According to Rajamahendravaram Urban Police Superintendent B. Rajakumari, a miscreant wearing a mask entered the temple owned by Srimannarayana Chinnajeeyar Swami Trust after 1.30 a.m. and disconnected two CCTV cameras. He entered the sanctum sanctorum from Sudarshana Perumal temple side. The CCTV camera in Sudarshana Perumal temple recorded the miscreant’s face. The miscreant allegedly stole 10 kg of silver ornaments from the main deity and put it in a bag and left the scene. He locked three rooms of the archakas.
