Signature campaign for VSP captive mines

The CITU-affiliated Steel Plant Employees Union on Monday launched a signature campaign to bring pressure on the Centre for allotment of captive iron ore mines to the premier public sector plant.

The members of the union went to the railway station and other places to obtain signatures from the public. The union wants to get one lakh signatures for submitting an MoU to the Prime Minister and others.

SPEU president V. Dhanaraju said the Steel Plant was shelling down Rs. 2,000 more for every tonne as it had no captive iron ore mines.

Mr Dhanaraju expressed concern that the NMDC was contemplating increasing the ore price from November 29.
