VISAKHAPATNAM: Union Shipping Secretary A.P.V.N. Sarma launched the work for several developmental projects during his visit to Visakhapatnam Port on Thursday.

Mr. Sarma laid the foundation stone for revamping of railway lines for handling full trains, laying 1.3-km service road with concrete cement pavement from Harbour Police Station to AP Fisheries Junction and a compound wall of seven meters height as a dust-barrier. These facilities will lead to increase in stacking area from 91,000 to 2,60,000 sq. metres, cargo handling capacity from 3,00,000 to 9,86,000 tonnes and decrease in operational cost.
