Seven nurses suspended

Four employees get show-cause notices

District Collector M. Ravi Chandra on Thursday issued orders suspending seven nurses from duties, besides issuing show-cause notices to four employees of the administrative wing of the Government General Hospital (GGH) here.

Mr. Ravi Chandra made a surprise visit to the GGH at 8.10 a.m. and verified the attendance register. He found that four head nurses – V.K. Rajeswari, Ch. Prema Valli, P. Sundaramma and K. Indira, staff nurses P.V. Bharathi and V.N. Suseelamma and maternity assistant P. Arjunamma did not turn up for their duties. Even as the inspection was going on, the nursing staff reached the hospital around 8.30 a.m. and failed to give explanation for their delay.

In the meanwhile, the Collector found that senior assistants I.V.R.K. Raju and B.V.V.Satyanarayana, junior assistants P. Gunadeep and K. Srinivasa Rao appearing for their duties around 10.40 a.m. Mr. Ravi Chandra issued orders suspending the nursing staff and show-cause notices to the administrative staff. Later, he visited the gynaecology ward and interacted with the patients.
