State-level expo to focus on encouraging tribal students

Fourteen judges to rate 600 student entries

50,000 students expected to visit exhibition

Sangareddy: The four-day State science exhibition to be launched on Wednesday by Minister for School Education Damodar Rajnarsimha at the MNR Medical College here would be focusing on encouraging tribal students from different parts of the State.

So far, the winners used to be selected from broadly two categories like urban and rural as there were very few entries in the tribal category. However, the tribal boys or girls do not have to design their models with a tribal background. In all 14 judges would be announcing their final verdict on the 600 student entries on a five point scale. The judges panel includes Lecturers from Engineering, Degree and Junior colleges in the District.

Preparations complete

On the other hand, students from different districts started arriving here on Tuesday to participate in the fair. Three reception counters were opened at the crossroads on NH 9, old and new bus stands in the town. Special buses were arranged to bring students and teachers to the MNR College. Arrangements for food and accommodation have been completed. While the exhibits would be displayed at the auditorium and its surroundings, a media centre and conference halls were arranged at the Dental College and its canteen.

Movies on science

Special arrangements were made to screen science fiction movies at the auditorium all through the day to entertain and educate students participating in the event and also the 50,000 students expected to visit the exhibition during the four days.

The organisers, the District Education Department, has also arranged for lectures from prominent scientists at the venue.
