Work in government offices affected

Movement of RTC buses hit

Kakinada: The Samaikhya Andhra agitation intensified on Friday as leaders of all political parties obstructed work in various government offices and movement of RTC buses.

Rallies were taken out by different people’s organisations opposed to bifurcation of the State.

Relay hunger strike

The all-party committee and lawyers continued relay hunger strikes to make the Central Government reverse its decision to separate Telangana region from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema.

Effigy burnt

A large number of automotive workers took out a motorcycle rally through the main road in Kakinada and burnt the effigy of TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, blaming him for the rift between people of Telangana and other two regions.

Students of educational institutions have also expressed their anger at the Central Government’s “unilateral decision” to grant Statehood for Telangana. They distributed roses to the passersby as a novel protest.

Dig at MP

Activists of Dalit organisations strongly criticised Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar for not resigning in favour of Samaikhya Andhra. They alleged that Mr. Harsha Kumar acted against the interests of Dalits and accused him of selling himself out to the advocates of Telangana to meet his personal ends.
