Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara University’s Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) is contemplating to open study centres in Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai, Goa and New Delhi, taking the total number from the existing 91 to 96. SVU already has 79 study centres in Andhra Pradesh, 5 in Tamil Nadu, 3 in Karnataka and 4 in Kerala.
Vice-Chancellor S. Jayarama Reddy released the prospectus for the academic year 2007-08 recently. It is proposed to introduce Post Graduate course in Consumer Education.
The DDE offers M. Phil programme in Telugu, English, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Tamil, Economics, History, Political Science and Public Administration, Sociology, Philosophy, Anthropology, Commerce, Education, Management, Mathematics and Psychology.
Sale of applications
The sale of applications for M.Phil, Post Graduate, Under Graduate (Regular) and PG Diploma courses commenced on August 9 and the same can be obtained from the State Bank of India’s SVU Campus branch, the DDE or its study centres.
The last date for receiving and submitting filled-in applications is October 1. Similarly, the last date for submitting applications for Degree Open University System is September 10. Entrance test is scheduled on September 23.According to DDE Director Y. Sudhakar Reddy, the cost of application is Rs.300 for M.Phil, Rs.100 for PG Degree, PG diploma and degree regular and B.Ed III Methodology and Rs.150 for Degree Open University System, which has to be paid by way of demand draft drawn in favour of ‘The Registrar, SV University, Tirupati’. Applications can also be downloaded from the website ‘ >www.svudde.org’.
