SSC exam: plan drawn up to improve percentage

NALGONDA: The district education department has drawn up a strategy to improve the pass percentage in the SSC public examinations in 2008-09 academic year. The district registered a pass percentage of 60 per cent and secured 22nd position in the State in the SSC examination in the previous year.

The large-scale vacancies in the Education Department, especially the numerous vacant posts of the mandal education officers, cast a shadow on the effective monitoring of the schools which in turn had an adverse impact on the SSC results.

In this backdrop, district Collector M. Purushotham Reddy instructed the officials concerned to evolve a comprehensive action plan to secure 100 per cent results. Addressing a review meeting held here on Wednesday, the Collector exhorted the officials and headmasters to make concerted efforts to ensure quality teaching and regular attendance in the government schools to achieve the desired results. He cautioned that action would be taken against those who fail to achieve the desired results in the coming SSC examinations.
