HYDERABAD: The arrest of Additional Joint Secretary of Government Examinations, A.D.K. Ravinder Rao, took a new turn on Saturday with sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seizing a few secondary school certificates at his residence at Nagole.
Rao was arrested at his office in Nampally on Friday while he was accepting a bribe of Rs.500 from a complainant for doing an official favour of rectification of certain entries in a certificate issued by the Government. After his arrest, officials raided his house in the evening and found some blank certificates while others without signatures and photographs of the students.
“It is yet to be confirmed whether the certificates seized from Rao’s house are fake or genuine. We will verify with the authorities of School Education Department on Monday,” ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police A. Krishna Kumar said.
Certificates, Rs.6.92 lakh and other documents were kept in a suitcase in the bedroom.
Locker too opened
Rao’s locker in a bank at Alkapuri was also opened on Saturday morning in which gold jewellery weighing over 40 tolas and Rs.7.11 lakh were found.
Efforts were on to collect more details about Rao’s assets, including 10 acres of agricultural land in Krishna district, the DSP added. The officer was sent to the Cherlapally jail.
