Rs. 100 crores for incentives to farmers

Kakinada: The State Government has released Rs. 100 crores for paying incentives to some 2 lakh farmers in the district who repaid their loans promptly and could not avail themselves of the loan waiver scheme.

Loans amounting to Rs. 535 crores have already been waived according to the Central Government’s norms, benefiting some 2.50 lakh farmers who defaulted in clearing their dues.

Those who repaid the loans as per schedule are being given incentives of Rs. 5,000 each by banks to encourage them to remain good customers . Farmers who are eligible to receive the incentives have been asked to file affidavits with the banks concerned to obtain ‘credit advisories’ which will in turn entitle them to be ‘rewarded for their genuineness’. The government has released Rs. 1,600 crores for implementing this scheme by organising ‘Rythu Protsahaka Utsavalu’.
