Rosaiah justifies Governor’s address

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has said the Governor’s address to the joint session of Legislature on February 15 did not refer to ongoing agitations for and against State bifurcation because the Srikrishna Committee was appointed by then.

Replying to the budget discussion in the Legislative Council on Wednesday, Mr. Rosaiah said the Governor’s address focused on several other important issues. Agreeing that price rise was a concern for all parties and sections of people, he maintained that spiralling prices were a nation-wide phenomenon. But the State was doing its best to control prices. Mr. Rosaiah said the government was prioritising Jalayagnam projects so that immediate benefits were available to the people. On the criticism about the mounting debt burden, he said the State was utilising major share of the loans on capital expenditure and not on revenue expenditure.
