Rosaiah hails CWC chief's remarks on Babli

Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has welcomed the observation of the Central Water Commission Chairman A. K. Bajaj that Babli and other 13 irrigation projects constructed by Maharashtra were ‘illegal' and violated the Supreme Court directions.

He referred to the CWC chief's observations at a review meeting with Minister for Major Irrigation Ponnala Lakshmaiah and other seniors officials here on Thursday. “His statement that Maharashtra was violating the SC order, has given impetus to our argument,” the Chief Minister said and added that this remark would only give the State a new found confidence to get justice soon.

Mr. Rosaiah said he was thoroughly satisfied with the action that followed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's meeting with him and Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on August 2. Political parties should now understand that the State Government's emphatic argument before the Prime Minister has yielded results. He referred to the Prime Minister's willingness to meet an all-party delegation and the follow up meeting with the two Chief Ministers as proof of the Centre's concern to end the impasse. He reiterated the government's commitment to fight till the end to secure justice for the State on the issue.
