Rich tributes to former President

TIRUPATI: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan observed two-minute silence on Wednesday to mourn the demise of R.Venkatraman, former President of India and also the ex-president of Bhavans.

Bhavan’s honorary director and treasurer of Tirupati Kendra N. Satyanarayana Raju, recalled RV’s instrumental role in securing 10 acres of land at Alipiri,for constructing Sri Venkateswara Vidyalaya. Members of Executive Committee also paid tributes.

Agarala Eswara Reddi, former Speaker of the State Assembly and Chairman of Madabhushi Anantasayanam Institute of Public Affairs (MAIPA) conveyed his grief to RV’s wife Janaki ammal. Recalling RV’s participation in MAIPA’s first national meet held in 1995. Dr. Reddi also eulogised him as a member of the constituent Assembly that drafted the Constitution and as ‘a key player who had ushered in the era of coalition politics’.
