No peace or security under Congress rule, says the actor

Huge response to Balakrishna’s road shows in villages

TDP will revive ‘janata vastralu’ scheme to help weavers

GOOTY: Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna on Sunday urged people to vote the TDP back to power for a secure and peaceful life.

Speaking to the people as part of his road shows in several mandal headquarters and other villages in the district on the fourth day of his campaign, he said it was necessary that the TDP comes back to power to ensure people’s welfare.

People neither had security nor peace in the present rule, he remarked.

Mr Balakrishna said he had come to the people seeking their renewed support for the party founded by ‘anna’ as he wished to restore its past glory. The law and order situation was so bad that even killers were moving around freely in the present dispensation, he remarked. He stated that the ‘janata vastralu’ scheme would be revived by the TDP if voted to power to help weavers besides supplying raw material at 50 per cent subsidy. Balakrishna’s road shows drew huge response in the villages.

However, an unsavoury incident threatened to mar the proceedings when a ‘chappal’ was hurled at him allegedly by a Congress supporter at Pamidi.

It hit the ‘chaitanya ratham’.

Supporters of the TDP caught him immediately and thrashed him before handing him over to the police.

Scribes’ protest

Meanwhile, a news contributor of a Telugu daily was allegedly manhandled by security personnel during the road show at Pamurayi village. The scribes staged a protest for about 20 minutes squatting in front of the ‘chaitanya ratham’.

The actor apologised for the incident and chided the district leaders for not handling such incidents properly.

In addition to the case registered against Mr. Balakrishna and others for conducting road show after the permitted time at Puttaparthi on Friday, similar cases were booked at Bukkaraya Samudram and Anantapur on Saturday night.

A case was also booked at Dharmavaram on the charges of violation of permission of place of road show there also on Saturday.
