Rayalaseema ignored: Left

Special Correspondent

KURNOOL: CPI (M) activists staged a demonstration at the railway station here on Wednesday to protest against non-introduction of inter-city express in the railway budget.

CPI (M) district secretary T. Shadrak said the inter-city express was the long-pending demand of the people of the city. Several movements were launched for the train in the last 10 years but there was no response from the Railway Ministry.

In fact, the Tungabhadra train was an intercity express that started in the early hours at Kurnool to reach Hyderabad by office hours. He said the railway budget was disappointing for Rayalaseema region as it did not bring any cheer to the people.

The survey for Mantralayam-Kurnool railway line was the only solace but the budget did not talk about doubling of rail line between Secunderabad and Guntakal.
