Rajahmundry: Hyderabad Zone clinched the championship while Vijayawada zone came second in the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Sports and Cultural Organization’s (APRTSCO) MP V. Anantha Memorial Athletic Meet, which concluded here on Sunday. Vizianagaram zone settled for the third place in the event. From all the seven zones, 303 men and 57 women participated in the three-day event. During the valedictory function, RTC Managing Director V. Dinesh Reddy said that what matters was the spirit behind the games and not victory or defeat. He asked the organisers to increase the number of participants from next year. He said that the management would consider imparting training to sportsmen and women before the conduct of sports meet. He said that the joy of participation in the meet would help the sportsmen to discharge their routine work with double the vigour. Rajahmundry MP V. Arunakumar spoke.
