Press Council committee to probe police attacks on journalists

HYDERABAD: A four-member committed constituted by the Press Council of India would inquire into the recent attacks on journalists by police during coverage of students’ agitation on Osmania University campus.

The committee comprising PCI members K. Sreenivas Reddy, S.N. Sinha, Kalyan Barooah and HM TV chief editor K. Ramachandra Murthy, would probe into the matter on March 7 and 8 at Hyderabad, the APUWJ said in a press release.

The committee might summon the police officers who were on duty at Osmania University campus when the journalists were attacked on February 14 and 15.

It would also hear the complaints of media persons and examine the material evidence presented by them to ascertain facts.
