Power of recall needed

The sops being offered by the political parties are so luring and charitable as to offer free rice and other essentials, as if they are gifting their ancestral accumulations. If the leaders want to really serve the poor and get due credit, they may spend their own earnings. The ongoing political indiscriminate deals and alliances of political parties, and their act of spewing venom against their own erstwhile friends and big bosses are disgraceful. They are unworthy to contest in elections. Several mentors of India have suggested recall of legislators as and when they are proved unworthy of the voter’s trust.

H. Kalyan Rao,

Old wine in new bottle

The introduction of Express services to Vuyyuru via Kakinada by the APSRTC is nothing but old wine in new bottle.

When the passengers pay express charges, they will expect good seating, reduction in travel time and impressive bus design. But, at present, the buses are too old and lack minimum features of express services. The RTC officials are requested to look into this aspect and take necessary action.

CA training

Thousands of youngsters seeking to pursue a career of chartered accountants join reputed CA firms as trainees. The youngsters, who are fresh out of college, expect best training and foundation to audit the accounts books of reputed companies. But, the Satyam fiasco only goes to prove that the reputed CA firms utilise these fresh talent to check fudged and cooked-up accounts. If young minds are exposed to murky affairs at the beginning of their career, how will they learn the art of good corporate governance? The apex bodies in auditing like ICAI should take a look at this and take necessary action.

E. Satya,

It is unfortunate that the Heritage foods, a company owned by family members of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has fudged the company books. Finance Minister K. Rosaiah went on record and said that a scam was brewing in the company. It is pertinent to mention here that the TDP government deliberately neglected Chittoor and Godavari dairies during its rule only to benefit the Heritage foods.

It seems that the TDP government very systematically ran the cooperative diaries into losses with a view to paving way for monopoly for the Heritage foods.

Slumdog Millionaire

Music maestro A R Rahman deserves kudos for bagging the prestigious Golden Globe award, which is considered next only to the Oscar, for his music composition for the English film Slumdog Millionaire.

In fact Rahman is the first Indian to win this coveted award making all Indians proud.
