Polling percentage up in Guntur

GUNTUR: The final polling percentage in Guntur is put at 73.18 compared to 71.69 per cent in the 2004 elections. During current elections, there are 32,59,120 voters (16,62,625 women and 15,96,495 men).

The voting percentages in all urban pockets of the district came down sharply, while that in rural areas went up to that extent increasing the total percentage by 1.49 in the district.

In Guntur East the voting percentage fell from 74 per cent in 2004 to 68 this time. Guntur West, which has no rural voters this time, recorded only 66 per cent.

Percentage of voting in other Assembly constituencies was: Tadikonda (SC) 70, Mangalagiri 80.20; Ponnur 79; Tenali 67; Prathipadu (SC) 81; Pedakurapadu 71.31; Chilakaluripet 80; Narsaraopet 70; Sattenapalli 72; Vinukonda 72; Gurazala 65; Macherla 72; Vemuru 81.8; Repalle 81; and Bapatla 67.
