Polio drops: arrangements in place

NIZAMABAD: Arrangements have been in place to administer pulse polio drops to 3 lakh boys aged between 0 and 5 years on Sunday. For which, 1710 polio booths were set up and 7,380 personnel were deployed, according to District Medical and Health Officer Rammoorthy. Besides, 50 mobile booths were set up to cover the children in travel. Services of 1,923 Aasha workers were used for the administration of the drops, he said.

Transit teams

Adilabad Staff Reporter adds: About 4 lakh children between the ages of 0 and 5 years in Adilabad district will be administered polio drops during the three-day intensified pulse polio immunisation programme starting on Sunday. “We have formed transit teams to administer polio drops even to children who are found travelling in a bus or train. Some of these teams will be stationed at bus stations while others will be travelling on trains between Godavarikhani in Karimnagar and Rajura in Maharashtra,” said Adilabad District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) D. Babu. He hoped the programme will be success mainly due to inter departmental cooperation.
