Polio drops administered to one lakh kids

VIJAYAWADA: Over one lakh children below the age of five years were covered under the pulse polio immunisation programme conducted across Vijayawada on Sunday.

The Vijayawada city has been into 38 zones and as many as 384 booths were established at different points for the parents and their wards in the city.

Special booths were arranged at places like railway station, bus station and Kanakadurga temple.

MLAs Devineni Rajasekhar (Nehru) and Sheik Nasar Vali formally inaugurated the camp at the urban health centre at Gunadala.

They advised parents to administer polio drops to their children and create awareness among others about the importance of the drops.

District Medical and Health Officer Obayya said the programme was being organised across the district. Officials of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VCM) and corporators were present on the occasion.
