SANGAREDDY: Police Commemoration Week would be celebrated from October 15 to 21. As part of that, various programmes would be taken up including facilitating citizens who played a key role in protecting law and order and social harmony.

Disclosing these details at a press conference here on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police M. Kanta Rao said that these programmes were being organised to remember the sacrifices police made to protect the Indian invasion by China during 1962.

The event would be used to improve the relations between the police and public and focus police as more accessible for the general public.

The programmes include competitions for students, open house, blood donation camps, peace rallies, martyrs’ family welfare review and conclude with Smriti parade by police personnel on the final day.

Land and order

Stating that the extremist activity in the district got reduced, the SP said that the existing staff was enough to meet the requirement of law and order. He said that another 190 personnel would be added to the force by next month. Referring to an incident near Zaheerabad, where an idol in a temple was damaged, Mr. Kanta Rao said that locals should also take the responsibility of protecting the temples where there was no security.
