All-party meet questions wisdom behind demand for separate Telangana

TIRUPATI: An all-party convention of ‘Samaikhyandhra’ leaders held here on Monday discussed threadbare the effects of bifurcation of the State and called upon the Centre to take all possible steps to protect unified Andhra Pradesh (Samaikyandhra). N. Samuel, convener of the Seema-Andhra JAC addressing the convention charged that the separate Telangana movement was born out of the idle brains of some ‘politically unemployed’ Telangana leaders. He also questioned the need and the wisdom behind the demand for a separate Telangana statehood when the people in all the three regions were living in perfect harmony and prosperity.

He lashed out at the vested interests in Telangana for kicking up the issue only for their political mileage and he underlined in this context the need to sensitise the Seema-Andhra people to remain steadfast in their commitment for ‘Samaikyandhra’.

The meeting presided over by the District AITUC leader and Samaikyandhra Porata Samiti (SAPS) convener, Tirupati, N. Raja Reddy was attended among others by the TDP’s Deputy Legislative Party leader and Nagari MLA G. Muddukrishnama Naidu, Srikalahasti and Palamaner MLAs, B. Gopalakrishna Reddy and Amarnadha Reddy (both TDP), former Tirupati MLA, M. Venkatramana and Rambhupal Reddy (Congress), Saikam Jayachandra Reddy (PR).

Leaders addressing the convention flayed the TRS leaders for stooping to the level of even distorting Telangana history and sought to drive home the point that the Seema-Andhra leaders played no mean role in the struggle against the Nazam’s rule to liberate Telangana from their clutches.

SAPS leaders took serious exception to the Telangana JAC leaders terming Seema-Andhra people as ‘robbers’ belittling their role in the Telangana’s development. A number of SAAP leaders including the university professors, SAAP Tirupati co-covener, Ramanjaneyulu also spoke.
