Plea to extend deadline to vacate village

KURNOOL: District secretary of CPI (M) T. Shadrak has urged the authorities to extend the deadline for vacating Cherolopalli village near Owk till the end of January.

In a statement, Mr. Shadrak said the irrigation authorities had let water into the Owk reservoir which submerged the road leading to the village.

Shifting difficult

He said the residents would not be in a position to shift their luggage and retrieve some of the material from the old houses. He urged the government to enhance the grant for the new houses by Rs. 40,000 more as the families used the compensation amount for other needs. The lenders of pressurised the villagers to repay the old debts since the money was available. Also, he urged the authorities to pay attention to create proper infrastructure in the new township saying that district administration promised to develop it as model village.
