Pirated CDs seized

VISAKHAPATNAM: In a major haul, the City Task Force police seized 1,000 pirated video and audio CDs and 2,000 audio-cassettes in a raid on two shops conducted at Aganampudi on Tuesday.

According to CTF SI Anand Reddy, the accused person K. Suryanarayana was running the shops.

They were connected to his house.

The accused person was copying the audio and video songs and films with the help of 16 DVD writers and two audiocassette recorders.

The DVD writers, video and audiocassettes and some original boxes and labels were also seized. The accused person was handed over to the Parawada police for investigation.

Injured recovering

Five Naval employees, who sustained severe injuries in Sunday night’s road accident, are recovering at a private hospital. Two Naval employees – Sukumar Goshal from West Bengal and Maninder Singh from Uttar Pradesh – died on the spot while driver Mahesh succumbed to the injuries.

The Naval employees took a lift around 11 p.m. on Sunday.

The driver, who was going at high speed, took a turn without slowing down at the ‘Y’ junction and hit the divider. Sukumar and Maninder, who were sitting in the cabin, died instantaneously.
