HYDERABAD: A group of physically-challenged persons, led by Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) convener Manda Krishna, on Monday staged a dharna in the Assembly lobbies demanding a discussion on their problems.

They staged a sit-in and raised slogans until the marshals picked them up and escorted them to complete their appointments for which they were permitted into the premises. The delegation met Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Leader of Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu and floor leaders of various parties, including N. Narasimhaiah (CPI-M), Ch. Venkat Reddy (CPI), G. Vijayarama Rao (TRS) and G. Kishan Reddy (BJP).

At its meeting with the Chief Minister, the delegation showed a copy of the GO issued by Puducherry Government enhancing financial assistance of Rs.1,500 a month for the disabled. Dr. Reddy reportedly did not appear interested in extending the concession in the State.

The delegation requested the Speaker to allot time to discuss their problems.
