VIJAYAWADA: The KVSR Siddhartha College of Pharmaceutical Sciences organised the 47th national pharmacy week celebrations on its premises on Thursday. Noted paediatrician Chintapalli Subhakara Rao presided over the function.

Addressing a meeting on the occasion, Dr. Rao exhorted the budding pharmacists to remain alive to the needs and requirements of society and carry out their responsibilities as pharmacists with utmost dedication. He said that the role of a pharmacist in the general development of society was immense.

Siddhartha Academy vice-president Nalluri Venkateswarlu and treasurer Paladugu Lakshmana Rao were present. Dr. R. Nagaraju, professor of Padmavathi Mahila University, attended as chief guest of the function.

College principal Garikapati Devala Rao said that the pharmacists should have a thorough knowledge of how to guide patients in using medicines and also they should generate awareness on the side effects of medicines. He pointed out that the budding pharmacists were having plenty of opportunities and jobs both in the country and abroad these days.

To underline the importance of pharmacy week celebrations, about 65 students conducted an exhibition of posters on the latest technologies in the pharmaceutical sciences across the world. The week celebrations were aimed at informing the people about the functions of pharmacists.
