Passing-out parade held at Shipwright School

VISAKHAPATNAM: A ceremonial passing out parade was held at Shipwright School on Wednesday on the occasion of the passing out of the 120th batch of Shipwright apprentices from the school.

Commanding Officer of INS Circars G.V. Babu reviewed the parade and presented the trophy for the “First in Overall Order of Merit” to Vijay Rai, Shipwright apprentice. The passing out batch included five Sri Lanka nationals.

The apprentices underwent 130 weeks of training in various facets of naval architecture, shipbuilding and maintenance of ships at Shipwright School. The course comprises a mix of theoretical training and extensive practical training in welding, carpentry etc.

Apart from this, the trainees were given regular military training like drill, parade and firing.

They were also exposed to adventure camps, cycle expeditions, various sports events and extra curricular activities for personality development.

Officer-in-Charge of Shipwright School Diwakar Tomar gave away proficiency awards to the teaching and support staff four outstanding services during the training period.
