VISAKHAPATNAM: Results of elections to the Lok Sabha and Assembly caused some disappointment to the Praja Rajyam and a thorough analysis would be done from the booth level to find out the faults, party’s urban and rural convenor Ganta Srinivasa Rao said.

However, it was satisfying to note that the party had won four out of the 15 Assembly seats in the district and lost some seats by narrow margins, Mr. Srinivas Rao, noted after himself winning the Anakapalle Assembly seat.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao while thanking the voters and party workers of Anakapalle said he opted for the tough constituency to provide inspiration to the party cadre and also to face Commercial Taxes Minister Konathala Ramakrishna to contest against him in an election. In spite of many hurdles placed by the ruling party and harassment, he could win comfortably.

He also pointed out that in his first election he defeated a senior leader and former Minister Gudivada Gurunadha Rao in the Lok Sabha elections from Anakapalle, defeated another senior leader and former Minister Balireddy Satyarao in the last Assembly elections from Chodavaram and now defeated a senior Minister who was holding three portfolios as well as the TDP’s Leader of Opposition.

Good majority

On the good majority for the Congress, he said the schemes and programmes of the party might have gained support of the people but it could not be a total support as Mr. Ramakrishna and many Ministers had lost.

Ms. Bolem Mutyala Papa of the Congress, who defeated a senior TDP leader and many times MLA Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu said he was winning till now due to the support of the Bolem family and he could not win without its support.

The support extended by the people to her family, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s good work and the overall support for the Congress helped her win the election, she said.

Praja Rajyam’s P. Ramesh Babu, who won from Pendurthi credited his victory to the people who supported party president Chiranjeevi. He assured to be with the people all the time and solve their problems.

Being with the people for the last eight years was the reason for his winning the election, said Gavireddy Ramu Naidu of Telugu Desam after winning from Madugula constituency. Many problems like getting Raiwada waters, completing pending projects, facilities for Girijans, etc., were left unsolved in the backward constituency and he would work on solving them, Mr. Naidu said.
