Congress leaders to take ‘all round development’ message to people during party’s mass contact programme
Government to launch Rs. 60-crore publicity blitz
Workers to register Indiramma beneficiaries
HYDERABAD: The Congress party has identified 14 major achievements of its Government and plans to take the ‘all round development’ message to people during its mass contact programme from September.
The general feeling among the party workers that the ruling party was lacking in publicity skills has provoked the party into action thus. This is besides the publicity blitz that the Government wants to launch at a cost of Rs. 60 crore soon.
Focal areas
Agriculture, Irrigation, Industry, IT, Energy, Rural Development, Infrastructure, Education, Social Welfare and Empowerment and special programmes for youth, women and minorities are the focal areas in this campaign.
The Pradesh Congress Committee has already decided to take the steam out of Opposition-led land struggles by asking its workers to register ‘Indiramma’ programme beneficiaries from next month.
“The Left parties’ campaign will become irrelevant when we hand over houses to the beneficiaries.
The poor in this State will remember us for a long time. In all, 15 lakh families will celebrate ‘Gripraveshams’ in October out of the 19 lakh families selected under Indiramma first phase. Is it a mean achievement? Twice the number of families will benefit in the next two phases to be completed before 2009 elections,” Botsa Satyanarayana, Minister for Housing, says.
The Government has recast its priorities as work in other areas like Irrigation is progressing at a brisk pace, he adds.
Party workers are being equipped with information on the implementation of other promises too.
Measures adopted to improve farm productivity, subsidies offered to farmers, revamp of cooperative credit structure in rural sector, sustained free power supply promise, pensions, ongoing Jalayagnam and ‘pavala vaddi’ are some of them.
Real estate boom is another issue it wants to highlight as it has benefited farmers across the State.
