VISAKHAPATNAM: Construction of 416 housing units near Arilova for below poverty line families under the Jawaharlal National Urban Renewal Mission has been going on. The construction is coming up in 32 blocks.

Municipal Commissioner B. Sridhar inspected the progress on Thursday. He also visited work on the Bus Rapid Transit System on the Simhachalam corridor for which a road is being laid from Hanumanthavaka to Pineapple Colony.

As a part of it, the pig farm of the Animal Husbandry Department has been relocated to Narava after the municipal corporation provided infrastructure at a cost of about Rs.2 crores.

Mr. Sridhar saw work on the sewerage pumping houses at Visalakshinagar and behind the Kabela at Hanumanthavaka and a pipeline work from Yendada to TSR Complex.

The Commissioner also visited the Pendurthy corridor work and Tatipudi pipeline replacement work and the road patchwork at Balayya Sastry Layout and Muralinagar after underground drainage implementation.

Additional Commissioner (Projects) Pola Bhaskar, Chief Engineer B. Jayarami Reddy, Superintendent Engineers T. Moses Kumar and C.G.K. Raju participated.
