OU reduces mess deposits

HYDERABAD: The Osmania University has reduced the mess deposits to be collected from PG students after requests from the students and student organisations.

According to a statement, students belonging to SC and ST categories have to pay Rs.1,500 (boys) and Rs.770 (girls) while the Backward Class students have to pay Rs. 2,500 (boys) and Rs. 1,570 (girls). Economically poor persons (EPP) category students have to deposit Rs.3,500 (boys) and 2,070 (girls) while paying boarders have to deposit Rs. 6,000 (boys) and Rs. 4,070 (girls).

The University had earlier hiked the deposit amount from the previous year that led to protests from students.

Vice-Chancellor T. Tirupathi Rao called for a meeting of students, student organisations, principals and chief wardens where the new charges were fixed.
