No place for superstitions: SP

Sangareddy: Medak Superintendent of Police R.B. Nayak, during the weekly Dial Your SP programme here on Monday, announced that the police cultural groups would intensify their rural awareness programmes to educate villagers against Banamathi and sorcery.

Answering a question raised by a local NGO on the recent burning of a destitute woman by a few youngsters of Hanuman Nagar believing that she was practising black magic, the SP said that it was unfortunate that the youth, which should be having a scientific temperament, believed in superstitions.

Action to be taken

He said that police would not tolerate crime against innocent people in the name of superstitions and stern action would be initiated against the perpetrators.

Diesel theft

The SP also said that that the he had asked the Special Branch to look into the allegations of stealing of diesel from highway patrol vehicles by drivers.
