Networking of branches soon

VIJAYAWADA: All the 90 branches of Andhra Bank in Vijayawada zone (Krishna district) will migrate to core banking solution (networking of each branch with another) by the end of this month, said V.B. Bhagavati, Deputy General Manager, Vijayawada Zone, on Saturday.

As many as 79 branches had already been networked and the remaining would be completed in the next one week, Mr. Bhagavati said at a press conference convened to announce the provisional results of the Bank during the quarter ending December 31, 2008.

‘Advantage customers’

He pointed out that only Delhi and Bangalore zones had achieved total networking, and Vijayawada zone was the third in the country and the first in Andhra Pradesh to accomplish this task. The networking of branches would give customers the advantage of ‘anytime and anywhere’ banking, besides Internet banking, mobile alerts and so on.

Sale of gold coins

Mr. Bhagavati said that the sale of gold coins of a weight of 4 grams, 8 grams and 10 grams had begun through 45 branches of Andhra Bank and 10 more branches would join from Tuesday. Also, a customer meet would be convened at all the branches on that day to inform the customers about the new initiatives of the Bank and to get their feedback.

He said the Bank in Krishna district had done a total business of Rs.3,087 crores during the quarter ending December 31, 2008, and the aim was to do business to the tune of Rs.3,765 crores by March 31, 2009.
