Naxalite killed in exchange of fire

WARANGAL: One naxalite was killed while another managed to escape unhurt in an exchange of fire with the police in Kesamudram mandal in the wee hours of Saturday here.

Accomplice escapes

The police personnel were checking the vehicles near Danavai hillocks on Tallapusalapalli village in the early hours. Having spotted two men riding a motorcycle, the police asked them to stop. Suddenly, the driver whizzed fast while the pillion rider opened fire on the police. The police too opened fire killing one on the spot. However, another naxal managed to escape in the dark.

The police recovered a pistol, two live rounds of ammunition and the motorcycle from the spot.

According to Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra, the deceased was identified as secretary of Praja Prathighatana group of naxalites, Esam Ramulu alias Ramu.

He was operating in Jangaon and Mahabubabad plain area. Nine cases including three murder cases were registered against him in Nalgonda and Warangal districts. He was a native of Ootlamatwada village of Kothaguda mandal.

The police launched intense combing operations to nab the escaped naxal.
