NTR Trust offers to set up drinking water plants

The NTR Memorial Trust has announced that it will set up safe drinking water plants in 48 hours anywhere in the State if philanthropists come forward to cooperate by providing a borewell and a small construction.

Summer woes

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Chief Executive Officer of the trust M. Venkat stated that the number of fluoride-hit villages in the State was over 700 now and it was likely to go up in the summer when the groundwater table would be under strain. Those who were financially well-settled in the country and outside could repay their motherland by taking part in the effort.

The trust had recently set up a ‘Sujala' safe drinking water plant useful for 50,000 population at Vempalle in Pulivendula constituency in Kadapa district. Such plants would serve the people for long time and arrangements would be made to run the plant by women of the village on their own. Those willing to take part in the mission could contact the trust on phone number 040-30799999, Mr. Venkat stated.
