NCC training camp begins at Chirala tomorrow

GUNTUR: National Cadet Corps 23 Andhra Battalion will organise a Combined Annual Training Camp- III (CATC- III) on the VRS & YRN College campus in Chirala in Prakasam district from July 23.

Cadets from six colleges and 23 schools in Guntur and Prakasam districts would arrive at the camp venue on Wednesday, but the actual training programme would begin on Thursday, Commanding Officer Paramjit Singh said in a release. The camp would be inaugurated by Paramjit Singh.

The 10-day camp would be a unique experience for the 750 cadets from both the districts and out of them approximately 200 would be girl NCC cadets.

At the VRS & YRN College campus about 35 other NCC officers/officials would supervise the training programme and manage the camp affairs.

Main focus of the camp would be on physical training, obstacle training, shooting, map reading, social and cultural activities, besides focusing on developing leadership qualities, cooperation and camaraderie etc.

The cadets would also improve the living conditions of some of the colonies and serve the society to gain experience, he added.

During the camp, the NCC officials would also impart intense training for the Thal Sainik Camp to be held in at New Delhi, Mr. Paramjit said. The camp would act as a selection process before finalising the team to be sent to New Delhi.
