KURNOOL: Minister for Marketing M. Mareppa locked horns with MP Kotla Jayasuryapraksa Reddy for criticising the Government. The Minister accused the MP of abusing him by caste at Aluru.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Mareppa, and M. Sikhamani, MLA , alleged that the MP was insulting Scheduled Caste leaders by criticising them in the name of caste.

On the charges levelled against the Congress Government, Mr. Mareppa said the MP should know from his wife Kotla Sujathamma, who was also an MLA, the development works being taken up under the leadership of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

‘Planning defection’

He accused the MP of preparing the ground for defecting to the TDP by making wild allegations against the Congress Government and the Chief Minister.

Kurnool Market Committee Chairman Bhupal Reddy said the MP was encouraging only a section of Congressmen in the constituency.

He alleged that Mr. Reddy was more for creating trouble in villages rather than assuaging the feelings of both groups.
