‘APMDC, APIIC doled out precious mines on a platter to Congress bigwigs'

Praja Rajyam president and Tirupati MLA K. Chiranjeevi expressed his shock over the magnitude of the Bayyaram mines scandal and the Emaar Properties scam and demanded an immediate probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to get at the truth and bring to books all the ‘master minds' behind the ‘multi-crore frauds'.

Participating in road shows on the last and the third day of his extensive tour in the tail-end parts of Chittoor district, the mega star-turned-politician regretted that the APMDC and the APIIC have doled out precious mines and land holdings on a platter to the Congress bigwigs or their henchmen with scant respect for the rules and regulations.

Continuing his tirade against the government for making liquor flood the roads of the State, he claimed that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has responded favourably to his request to announce a national policy on prohibition. Referring to the West Bengal government's reported gesture to provide from its side a subsidy of Rs.1 on the price of diesel per litre, he asked why the Andhra Pradesh government could not show a similar gesture to its farmers who also depended heavily on lift irrigation in the rain shadow areas. Addressing meetings around Palamener, Punganur and Manapalle municipal areas which he covered on Wednesday before rounding off his hectic schedule in the district, Mr. Chiranjeevi said that the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party were getting jittery over the huge turnout at all his road shows. “I am really reassured over the overwhelming support,” he told the gathering.
