Medical shop employee drowns at sea

VISAKHAPATNAM: A jolly outing turned into a nightmare for a group of friends at the Ramakrishna Beach on Tuesday evening. K. Anil Kumar, an employee at a medical store, and six other friends living in the same street at Prakasaraopeta area in the city, went for a bath at sea around 3 p.m. They had a gala time on the beach.

They were bathing in the water, when a strong current pulled Anil Kumar into the deep.

He was feared drowned in the water. A search by his friends turned futile and they reported the matter to the Three Town police.

CI Ranga Raju said the body couldn’t be traced till late in the evening.

5 held, ganja seized

Five persons were arrested and 20 kgs of ganja was seized in a raid conducted by the City Task Force police on Tuesday. U. Srinivas and V. Bheemanna of G. Madugula and T. Jalandhar of Munchingput bring the ganja from agency areas and sell it through P. Ramesh and Suresh, autorickshaw drivers, in the city. On a tip-off, the CTF SIs Anand Reddy and Tirupati Rao raided the house of the auto driver and seized the ganja valued around Rs.45,000.
