VIZIANGARAM: Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana presented the ‘Atreya Puraskar,” instituted by Atreya Smaraka Kalapeetham, to Padmabhushan Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna, noted music exponent, at a function at Gurajada Kalakshetram here on Wednesday night. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Satyanarayana assured the gathering that he would strive to maintain the past glory of the fort town.

As a step in that direction, Madras Telugu Academy would be holding unity concerts here on November 14, 15 and 16. Saying that getting felicitated in this historical town is unforgettable, Dr. Mangalampalli said that he was inspired by Dwaram Venkata Swamy Naidu and Adibhatla Narayana Swamy and appealed to the Minister to name areas after them. Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi, Lok Sabha member, K. Veerabhadra Swamy, MLA and others were present. Earlier, Dr. Mangalampalli visited the Government Music and Dance College. He was literally carried in a flower-decked couch from the college to the venue.
