MLA launches SRBC works

Under three packages at a cost of Rs. 200 cr.

KADAPA: Jammalamadugu MLA C. Adinarayana Reddy launched works estimated to cost Rs. 200 crores, under three packages of Srisailam Right Branch Canal, at Kondasunkesula village in Peddamudiyam mandal on Thursday.

The MLA performed `bhoomi pooja' for 36th and 38th package works to be executed by GSR Co. and 37th package to be done by APR Co. The canal to be completed in one year would irrigate 23,000 acres in Peddamudiyam and Mylavaram mandals and S. Uppalapadu panchayat in Jammalamadugu mandal, besides catering to drinking water needs, Mr. Adinarayana Reddy said.

The works would lead to a rise in groundwater table in the areas, he said. Superintending Engineer Vasood Khan, EE of SRBC Division II-4, Koilkuntla, Prakash Rao and DEE Mahadevaiah, chief engineer of RNS and GSR Bhima Raju, project manager Nageswara Rao, director Varma and Peddamudiyam mandal vice-president Konda Reddy also participated.
