Livelihood project for people living with HIV

VIJAYAWADA: Surakshita Project, launched by the Krishna District Lorry Owners Association (KDLOA), has begun a lifeline project for people living with HIV/AIDS with help from the Delhi-based Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). As part of this, the CAF has provided loans to beneficiaries to set up small businesses so that they can live on their own.

Loans were distributed among 30 persons at a meeting organised at Surakshita Project office in Autonagar on Saturday. Chief guest of the occasion was District AIDS nodal officer T.V.S.N. Sastry. It was aimed at providing livelihood support to the affected families.

KDLOA president P. Raghavendra Rao, general secretary T.G.V. Prasad, Surakshita Project coordinator R. Rama Rao and others were present.

The chief objective under lifeline project was to satisfy the primary needs of those who hail from poor families and are struggling to eke out a living.
