Karimnagar-Secunderabad rail line still distant dream

KARIMNAGAR: The long-felt dream of a railway line from Karimnagar town to Secunderabad is likely to remain a distant dream, if one goes by the presentations made by Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee in her budget speech on Wednesday.

Contrary to the petitions made by A.P. Congress MPs forum convenor Ponnam Prabhakar urging the Railway Minister to sanction a new railway from Karimnagar to Secunderabad via Siddipet, Pregnapur town, the Railway Minister had announced a new railway line under socially desirable rail connectivity from Hyderabad, Gajwel, Siddipet, Sircilla and Jagtial, which was otherwise proposed by TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao when he was MP of Karimnagar constituency.

It was surprising to note that the Railway Minister had announced a proposal for survey of new railway line from Ramagundam to Nizamabad town when the ongoing Peddapalli to Nizamabad via Karimnagar railway line was progressing at a snail’s pace due to poor allocations in the budget since decades.
