KCR consults irrigation experts

Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday held extensive consultations with irrigation experts from Telangana ahead of the tour of a sub-committee of Srikrishna panel in the State.

The sub-committee on irrigation headed by retired chairman of Central Water Commission A.D. Mohile is scheduled to meet various groups here from August 9 to 11 and leave for inspection of projects across the State from August 12 to 18.

Request for revision

Sources said the TRS chief spoke to Srikrishna Committee member secretary V.K. Duggal over phone and requested him to revise the tour schedule of Mr. Mohile and his team as it did not include a visit to projects as Srisailam Left Bank Canal and Pothireddypadu head-regulator which were harmful to the interests of Telangana. Mr. Duggal was also urged to extend the tour of the sub-committee to facilitate its visit to more number of projects and see the disparity in development.

Teams to be sent

Former Warangal MP B. Vinod Kumar, who was part of the discussions on Thursday, told media persons that it was decided to depute two teams of the TRS to accompany the sub-committee to projects in the Krishna and Godavari basins.
