Jakkampudi’s son, brother arrested

Rajahmundry: State Excise Minister Jakkampudi Rammohana Rao’s son J. Raja, brother J. Chinni, Congress corporators Raghava Babu, Dora Babu and seven others were arrested on Saturday following a complaint by a journalist and a cameraman. However, the police are yet to arrest the Minister’s wife J. Vijayalakshmi on the same complaint. Both the son and brother got bail and were released in the evening.

According to in-charge DSP I. Trinatha Rao, Eenadu reporter Ch. Muralikrishna and TV9 cameraman T. Srinivas gave a complaint that they were allegedly beaten up by the accused Raja, Chinni and nine others under the direction of Jakkampudi Vijayalakshmi on Friday night near Triplex Theater - Rambha, Urvasi and Menaka. All the eleven members were arrested on Saturday and produced in the Magistrate Court and they got bail. Vijayalakshmi is at large and police are making efforts to arrest her.

Meanwhile, journalists protested against the attack and took out a rally on Saturday.
