Interventional cardiologists’ meet

HYDERABAD: About 500 interventional cardiologists from all over India will attend the National Interventional Council (NIC) meeting being hosted by the Cardiological Society of India at Hotel Marriott here from Friday.

Dr. K. Sarat Chandra, Chairman of NIC told mediapersons on Thursday that the three-day meeting was being held at Hyderabad after a gap of eight years.


The unique feature of this meeting would be a live workshop telecasting coronary and peripheral angioplasties with participation of doctors from eight centres across the country.

A symposium on drug eluting stents and presentation of complicated cases by senior interventional cardiologists from NIMS, KIMS and other centres would be other features of the meeting. Dr. D. Seshagiri Rao, Head, Department of Cardiology, NIMS, said the meeting would review interventional procedures, handle complex cases and show recorded cases with complications, besides demonstrating new techniques and methods in interventional angioplasty in the live telecast for the benefit of delegates.
