VIJAYAWADA: Spot valuation of Intermediate public examination papers will commence from March 17.

“The list of lecturers appointed for the purpose has been despatched to the respective college principals,” Regional Intermediate Education Officer K. Phanindra Rao told a press conference on Monday.

Mr. Rao said these lecturers were expected to report at the spot valuation camp office set up at SRR & CVR Government College by 12 noon on March 17.

He said five students were booked under cases of malpractice in various colleges of Krishna district in the Intermediate exams on Monday. Of them, four were from Government Junior College, Kaikaluru and one from Kalidindi Cooperative Junior College.

In the general category, a total of 62,429 students had enrolled and 58,942 of them appeared.

In the vocational courses category, of the 2,419 enrolments, 2,150 students appeared for the test.

Four flying squads and five sitting squads were deputed to monitor the examination centres.

The department personnel on Monday visited close to 50 centres in the district.

Infrastructure

When pointed out that a large number of students carried mobile phones to the examination centre, he said: “There is no question of encouraging any malpractice. We are open to public complaints and we are taking immediate action against erring officials.”

The RIO admitted the problem of inadequate infrastructure at some places, like shortage of furniture for students appearing for the test.

He said temporary arrangements were made by shifting furniture from other nearby schools to the examination centres.

Complaints received from examination centres at Mylavaram and Nuzvid had been taken care of.
